Buchpräsentation mit Hannes Egger, Masatoshi Noguchi, Sarah Oberrauch, Leonie Radine, Thomas Sterna und Andrea Varesco
In ihrem gemeinsamen Projekt Win-Win Lottery nutzten die Künstler Hannes Egger und Thomas Sterna das Losverfahren als kuratorisches Prinzip. Während der documenta fifteen mieteten sie einen Projektraum im KulturBahnhof Kassel. Statt einer Jury entschied der Zufall: Künstler*innen, Kurator*innen und Ausstellungsmacher*innen konnten Lose erwerben und in vier Ziehungen wurden 13 Gewinner*innen ermittelt, die den Raum frei gestalten durften.
Das soeben im Berliner Distanz Verlag erschienene Buch enthält neben der Dokumentation der 13 Ausstellungen auch Texte von Katinka Fischer, Hannes Egger, Hans Dieter Huber, Larissa Kikol, Farid Rakun (ruangrupa), Thomas Sterna, Dan Perjovschi und Judith Waldmann.
Vorgestellt wird das Buch mit einer Podiumsdiskussion, bei welcher Gewinner*innen der Win-Win Lottery, Masatoshi Noguchi, Sarah Oberrauch, Andrea Varesco, sowie Hannes Egger und Thomas Sterna von ihren Erfahrungen mit dem Losverfahren als Auswahlkriterium berichten. Moderation: Leonie Radine.

In occasione di documenta fifteen, gli artisti Hannes Egger e Thomas Sterna hanno affittato uno spazio espositivo presso il KulturBahnhof di Kassel e hanno dato ad altri artisti e artiste la possibilità di vincere una settimana di presentazioni delle loro opere. Lasciando la decisione alla sorte piuttosto che a una giuria di esperti, ogni artista, curatore/trice o organizzatore/trice di mostre interessato poteva partecipare all’estrazione del premio semplicemente acquistando un biglietto della lotteria.
Il libro, appena pubblicato da Distanz Verlag (Berlino), raccoglie non solo la documentazione delle 13 mostre vincitrici, ma anche testi di Katinka Fischer, Hannes Egger, Hans Dieter Huber, Larissa Kikol, Farid Rakun (ruangrupa), Thomas Sterna, Dan Perjovschi e Judith Waldmann.
Il libro sarà presentato con una tavola rotonda in cui Masatoshi Noguchi, Sarah Oberrauch e Andrea Varesco come vincitori, assieme ad Hannes Egger e Thomas Sterna, parleranno delle loro esperienze con la lotteria. Modera: Leonie Radine.
La pratica artistica di Hannes Egger (nato nel 1981, vive e lavora a Lana, Italia) è caratterizzata da un approccio concettuale-partecipativo in cui le azioni dei visitatori e visitatrici diventano spesso esse stesse opere d’arte. Thomas Sterna (nato nel 1958, vive a Merano e Francoforte) si occupa delle condizioni della produzione artistica autonoma e ne esamina i fondamenti sociali e politici.

On the occasion of documenta fifteen, the artists Hannes Egger and Thomas Sterna rented an exhibition space at the KulturBahnhof in Kassel and gave other artists the chance to win a week’s presentation of their works. Leaving the decision to chance rather than a jury of experts, any interested artist, curator or exhibition organiser could enter the prize draw simply by purchasing a lottery ticket.
The book, recently published by Distanz Verlag (Berlin), contains not only documentation of the 13 winning exhibitions, but also texts by Katinka Fischer, Hannes Egger, Hans Dieter Huber, Larissa Kikol, Farid Rakun (ruangrupa), Thomas Sterna, Dan Perjovschi and Judith Waldmann.
The book will be presented with a panel discussion in which Masatoshi Noguchi, Sarah Oberrauch and Andrea Varesco as winners, together with Hannes Egger and Thomas Sterna, will talk about their experiences with the lottery. Moderation: Leonie Radine.
