KUNST MERAN / Meranoarte
After more than two years of the pandemic and social distancing, Kunst Meran returns to celebrate and critically investigate togetherness and different forms of social interaction.
The exhibition explores the divergent ways in which community is expressed through art. On the one hand it brings together works that show that we can go beyond our individual selves and achieve significant aims as a group, while on the other addressing the tendency of groups to suppress diversity and individuality.
During the exhibition the audience is invited to leave its comfort zone and take an active role, experiencing community in a direct way. These interactive formats of the exhibition, some of them participatory, are divided into three categories:
Interact – stands for collective actions as well as a series of community projects realised on site, such as the creation of a community garden on the terrace of the Kunsthaus.
Interplay – stands for works in which visitors can playfully interact with each other.
Interfere – stands for art that appeals to the political and social commitment, empathy and sense of responsibility of visitors.
The exhibition TOGETHER is in keeping with KUNST MERAN’s aim of finding ways of experiencing art less through passive viewing and more through active and self-determined participation.

KUNST MERAN
Nach über zwei Jahren Pandemie, sozialer Distanz und gesellschaftlicher Einschränkungen rückt Kunst Meran das Thema Gemeinschaft in den Fokus. Welche Bedeutung hat Gemeinschaft für die zeitgenössische Gesellschaft und welche Formen gibt es? Welche Chancen eröffnen sich, wenn sich die Handlungsmacht des Einzelnen mit der der Vielen im Kollektiv zusammenschließt – und welche Gefahren drohen hierbei?
Die Ausstellung untersucht die verschiedenen Spielarten von Gemeinschaft durch die Kunst. Sie vereint zum einen Werke, die davon erzählen, dass man in der Gruppe über sich herauswachsen und bedeutsame Ziele erreichen kann. Zum anderen wird die Tendenz zur Unterdrückung von Diversität und Individualität in der Gruppe thematisiert.
Das Publikum wird in der Ausstellung immer wieder dazu aufgefordert, die eigene Komfortzone zu verlassen und gemeinsam aktiv zu werden. Die interaktiven und teilweise auch partizipativen Elemente der Ausstellung untergliedern sich in drei Sektionen:
Interact – steht für kollektive Aktionen sowie für eine Reihe von Gemeinschaftsprojekten, die vor Ort realisiert werden, wie beispielsweise die Gestaltung eines Gemeinschaftsgartens auf der Terrasse des Kunsthauses.
Interplay– steht für Arbeiten, in welchen die Besucher*innen spielerisch miteinander in Kontakt treten können.
Interfere– steht für Kunst, die an das politische und soziale Engagement, an Empathie und Verantwortungsempfinden der Besucher*innen appelliert.

Dopo oltre due anni di pandemia, di distanziamento e di restrizioni sociali, Merano Arte intende porre al centro della sua programmazione il tema della comunità. Che significato ha la comunità nella società contemporanea e quali tipi di comunità esistono? Quali possibilità si aprono e quali pericoli si corrono quando il potere d’azione individuale si unisce a quello di molti, formando un collettivo?
TOGETHER indaga le differenti forme di comunità attraverso l’arte. Da una parte, comprenderà una serie di opere che raccontano come in gruppo si possa crescere al di là di se stessi e raggiungere obiettivi significativi, mentre dall’altra metterà in discussione la tendenza dei gruppi a reprimere differenze e individualità.
Nella mostra, il pubblico è ripetutamente invitato a lasciare la propria “comfort zone” ed assumere insieme dei ruoli attivi. Questi aspetti interattivi e talvolta partecipativi sono articolati in tre sezioni:
Interact riunisce azioni collettive e progetti partecipati realizzati in loco.
Interplay riguarda le opere in cui i visitatori e le visitatrici possono interagire tra loro in modo ludico.
Interfere rimanda all’arte che fa appello all’impegno politico e sociale, all’empatia e al senso di responsabilità.
